Welcome to The Hive—More Than Just a Workspace, It’s a Damn Movement. If you’re new here, hey! I’m Chelsey, and this is The Hive—a coworking space, yes, but also so much more. It’s a community, a home away from home, a place where women come to be more—more than their job title, more than their to-do list, more than what the world expects them to be. This past year has been a rollercoaster of chaos, loss, and healing, but through it all, The Hive proved to be exactly what I dreamed it would be—a space that catches you when life knocks you down and cheers the loudest when you get back up. Because of this space, I met Maelyn, a local copywriter who, without hesitation, helped me fix my terrible grammar in my grandmother’s obituary when my grief left me too scrambled to find the right words. Because of The Hive, we teamed up with Bocaccini’s and Homemade Events to give an expecting mama of a fragile babe a peaceful night out with her husband before their world shifted forever. That wouldn’t have happened without the connections this place makes possible. Without The Hive, I wouldn’t have met Kathy O’Neil, Brenda Steffon, or Dana Bucceri, three women who walked alongside me in my own grief and held me up when I needed it most. And when The Star Legacy Foundation needed a space for families grieving the loss of their babies, I was beyond honored to provide it. As a fellow miscarriage mama, creating that safe haven for them was one of the most meaningful moments I’ve had here. But here’s the thing… The Hive was never about The Hive. Like Cass McCrory once said, The Hive is just the container—a bougie rubbermaid tub, if you will—that sets the stage for something bigger. It’s about women showing up as their unfiltered, beautifully complicated selves. It’s about real connection, real support, and real friendships. It’s about building something that actually freaking matters. So if you’re here, welcome. Whether you’re looking for a place to work, a community to lean on, or a reason to believe in yourself again—this is it. We’re just getting started. Let’s build something incredible together. Why is it that moms feel guilty for being sick? Like, guilt-guilty. Not just “oops, I ate the last cookie” guilt—but the heavy, soul-crushing kind KNOWING that I have 3 emails sitting in my inbox to respond to, an event contract and invoice to go out (that has been on my task list for far too long sorry @stitched.by.hands), I have a full week of social media posts to plan and reels to edit for 2 clients, my new appliances get delivered today, a zoom call to get on at 1:30 and I’m sure I’m missing several something else’s.. FUUUCK Meanwhile, we’ve all seen the memes about the man flu. Dads bundled in blankets, sipping soup, bingeing Netflix, and we laugh it off like it’s completely normal. And sure, dads work hard—mine is the most amazing husband and father. But why is it that when dads are sick, they get permission to tap out for the day, while moms are celebrated for pushing through like warriors? Why do we make that so normal? Honestly, it’s not fair—to moms or dads. Here’s a wild fact: studies show that moms carry 60-70% of the mental load in most households. That’s the invisible checklist of everything—doctor’s appointments, school projects, remembering where the favorite toy was last seen (under the couch, btw). So when moms are sick, the guilt kicks in because the world we built feels like it might crumble without us. But here’s the plot twist: if we don’t stop and rest, the world will crumble—ours. No one wins when mom’s running on fumes. So I’ve been learning to do the unthinkable. To rest. To ask for help. To let things slide. And, yes, to remind my family that moms get sick too, and when we do, it’s not an invitation to play survival mode—it’s a chance to show the kids what grace, self-care, and delegation look like. But hey, if you need me, I’ll be here, battling this stomach bug (or bad ceviche 🥴) like a warrior … from the comfort of my couch. In moments when the weight of grief felt too heavy, their kindness has been a lifeline. Sometimes, just knowing someone is there, ready to hold space and listen, makes all the difference. They’re the first to say, “What can I do to help?” or “I’m here for you. I see you. I love you. How can I support you?” This isn’t just a coworking space; it’s a place where we lean on each other through life’s highs and lows, a family. To the women who have shown up for me without even knowing the depth of their impact: I hope you feel that same love, light, and gratitude coming back to you. I’m forever grateful. ❤️
