Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, you’ll be introduced to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink in this workshop. We will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail, wedding paper goods, home décor, and more! The perfect crafty night out!
Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper, and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics, and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style! If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!
A note on bringing guests 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child if you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We ask that a ticketed adult accompany anyone under the age of 16 at all times.

Second Look Boutique Grand Opening!

I am excited to announce the grand opening of my new store - I can’t believe it’s finally happening!
A bit of background …
I have spent my entire life wanting a storefront (that isn’t an exaggeration!). I was always setting up a small “shop” anywhere I could (this post gives you an example of that!) I believed for years I never took “the leap” (call it fear, call it uncertainty…. or call it “everything happens when it’s supposed to”) but after my mom passing last year, I made a promise to her - and myself - that I was finally going to give this little dream of mine everything I have.
What I’ve learned these past few months of prep is that I did, in fact, take “the leap” years ago. I may not have gone right for the storefront first - but I spent time building a brand from the ground-up, and a name people recognize me by. I spent time accumulating a dedicated squad of passionate cheerleaders, consistent customers, and a genuine following of some of the best people I’ve ever met (online AND in real life). I started an online presence that has grown to almost 14K followers on instagram, an online shop that serves locally and nationwide (with over 400K followers), I’ve offered services, I’ve held events, vended at pop-ups, written for local publications on a regular basis, had news-spots and radio interviews, and I’ve “put myself out there” in every way possible except an actual storefront. Entirely on my own - if that isn’t taking a leap of faith and belief in yourself, then what is?
So no, I’m not just taking the leap now - I’ve been mid-air for awhile, and the shop isn’t me finding the other side of the jump. The storefront is just the next chapter of this amazing leap I’ve been on, and one I don’t plan landing from anytime soon.
With that- I say thank you to every person who has supported me, and Second Look, in some way these past few years. Shopping, consigning, attending events, sending encouraging DMs, stopping me in Wegmans to say “it’s Second Look Sarah!” - every single moment with you has made Second Look what it is. Thank you for believing in me.

Kathy has made many big pivots in her lifetime. She has two degrees, including a master's in public health from Yale, has worked and traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe and has lived in the heart of several major metropolitan cities, along with a sleepy Atlantic island, and a southern tobacco farm. She has professionally reinvented herself three times, discovering new passions and skills at each juncture.
After training and becoming certified as a professional life coach, Kathy launched her final career, helping other women transition through significant life changes. In addition to listening to all our favorite eras we will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail, wedding paper goods, home decor, and more! Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper, and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Have you ever been to a clothing swap? Sustainable fashion is where it's at, and at a swap you get the chance to part with items you no longer want in exchange for things you do! *This event ticket and participation benefits Dress for Success Rochester*
Join us for a community-wide event with Sarah of Second Look Styling, hosted at the Hive ROC in Faiport NY on January 6th. Donate a minimum of 5 items for your chance to take five new items home of your choosing. You can donate in advance by emailing Sarah at secondlookroc@gmail.com or drop-off day of between 11am-1pm at The Hive. From there, enjoy shopping or lunch in the nearby plaza. Then head back to The Hive for the swap - we'll have giveaways, bubbly/drinks and snacks, and more!
